JOHOR BARU: As the Covid-19 situation continues to improve, the Johor state government hopes to attract 10 million visitors into the state next year.
Tourism Johor director Suhairi Hashim said that the state is moving in the right direction and has been able to attract both local and international visitors.
“We set the target of getting between five and six million visitors by the end of this.
“For next year, we hope to get at least 10 million visitors where a majority of them are expected to be tourists coming from other countries.
“At the moment, most of our international visitors are those from South-East Asian countries, especially Singapore and Indonesia.
“We hope to attract more people from other regions such as those from the Middle East and Europe,” he said.
Suhairi said this when met during the 10th anniversary of Legoland Malaysia Resort (Legoland) here on Thursday (Sept 15).
He added that the state government would also further boost its efforts in promoting the state and its tourism products.
