U Mobile declines DNB's share offer, to proceed with 5G rollout

U Cellular has decided not to go after the investment choice in DNB after having extensive discussions and deliberations over the matter and after taking into account the terms of the investment.

Within a statement, the telco said it is encouraging of the government’s vision of a single wholesale network (SWN) design for 5G deployment in Malaysia and is grateful to have already been invited to invest in Electronic Nasional Berhad (DNB).  

But the firm said  it would “better serve Malaysians by focusing on its strengths of providing innovative plus unbeatable connectivity plus digital services that will realise the full potential of 5G technology. ”

The Malaysian governing administration is deploying 5G using a SWN style, which is managed by just DNB. Of the half a dozen telcos in the country, solely YTL Communication also has used a commercial 5G network as of yet.

Telekom Malaysia has agreed to use the 5G infrastructure set up by DNB but the four incumbents, Celcom Axiata Bhd, Digi. com Bhd, Maxis Bhd, and additionally U Mobile collectively known as CDMU in the industry comes with delayed doing so.

The Malaysian government had during March offered a 70 percent stake in DNB to all or any six telcos to consider a take in DNB, with U Cell phone now saying that it contains declined the feature. Meanwhile, Maxis has reportedly declined the offer, reported Reuters .

According to the U Mobile, it is decision not to agree to DNB does not have an impact on its ability to provide 5G services to customers as having access to DNB’s 5G networking infrastructure is ruled by a separate access agreement, which is not linked to the equity investment in DNB.  

The company said that along with the other sorts of telcos, it is through discussion to finalise the 5G connection agreement with DNB.  

Once this is complete and signed, DNB’s 5G access in the event that combined with U Mobile’s existing 4G multilevel will enable You Mobile customers to have a truly seamless connectivity experience, it included.

You Mobile said there is full faith that will DNB’s deployment for quality 5G community infrastructure will be on schedule and that it will conduct the government’s mandate to provide wholesale 5G coverage and ability on an equitable together with non-discriminatory basis from your 5G access long term contract.

The telco added that going barefoot has been testing 5G services and is looking towards its customers trying to play the full benefits of 5G with its 5G-ready products and services soon.
