Floods fully recede in Kedah and Sarawak, relief centres closed: Malaysian authorities

In  Penang, the number of ton victims at 2 relief centres within two districts remained unchanged at  59.

Condition Environment and Well being Committee chairman  Phee Boon Poh said although the weather has been bright as of 1pm  on Saturday,   flood victims could not return home however, as their houses possess yet to be cleaned.

“The (relief centre) at  Dewan Komuniti Kubang Menerong in  Seberang Perai Utara district continues to be sheltering 38 individuals from nine family members while in Seberang Perai Selatan the  (relief centre) at  Sekolah Kebangsaan Bakap Indah is housing  21 victims from 8 families, ” this individual told Bernama.

Following heavy rain lasting more  than two hours in a number of areas from 3 or more. 30pm on Fri, two relief centres were opened in Penang, as of 2am on Saturday.

In  Johor, the amount of evacuees  dropped slightly to  819 in 4pm, compared to 821 at 8am on Saturday.

Johor JPBN said within a statement that there had been 793  victims through 224 families at five relief centres  in Batu Pahat district, which is facing the problem of stagnant floodwaters.

In  Segamat, 26 individuals from nine family members were still using shelter in one  PPS, it stated, adding that rainfall was forecast designed for nine districts today while  the weather during Muar was expected to be bright.
