Apple suppliers to make Apple Watch and MacBook in Vietnam: Report

Apple Inc’s providers are in talks to produce Apple Watch and MacBook in Vietnam for the first time, Nikkei Asian countries reported on Tuesday (Aug 16), citing people familiar issue.

Apple’s Chinese suppliers Luxshare Precision Industry plus iPhone assembler Foxconn have started check production of Apple company Watch and Apple macbook in Northern Vietnam, the report added.

Apple continues to be shifting some parts of iPhone production from China to other markets, including India, where it started manufacturing apple iphone 13 this year, and is also going to assemble iPad tablets.

India, the particular world’s second-biggest mobile phone market, along with countries such as Mexico plus Vietnam are becoming increasingly important to contract producers supplying American manufacturers, as they try to shift production away from China.

Apple, Foxconn and Luxshare Precision did not immediately respond to a Reuters request comment.

Last week, Taiwanese contract producer Foxconn gave the cautious outlook for the current quarter after posting outcomes that exceeded anticipation, citing slowing smartphone demand after a pandemic-fuelled boom.

Like other global producers, Foxconn – officially called Hon Hai Precision Industry : has dealt with a severe shortage of chips that harm production, as bottlenecks from the pandemic lingered and the Ukraine war further strained logistical channels.
