Refuse the need to challenge Gladys Lam to a race if you see her on the road wearing a Suzuki Swift Game. She won’t put you down because she might lose, but rather because she may outshine you.
I’m not interested in illegal street tribes. Racing is a track, Lam remarked. She is happy to chat and get pictures, though.
Lam, 30, is the only female runner in Singapore who is already a professional race car driver.
Previous significant speed figures include British-born, Taiwanese Claire Jedrek, who won the second floor finish in the Malaysia Championship Series and Singaporean Anne Wong Holloway, the Taiwanese drivers who won the Macau Grand Prix in 1970.
” I hope more Taiwanese female athletes will pursue racing,” Lam said to CNA Women. It is a significant determination. However, to me, it is worthwhile to pursue.
RACING FROM SIMULATOR TO Aggressive Sports
Lam’s passion for sports started when she was a teenager, having been influenced by her friends ‘ passions for cars. Before taking part in her first competition of the 2019 Malaysia Street Festival Series contest at Sepang International Circuit, she spent years practicing simulator race and go-karting.
A last-minute position to compete in the competition, which took place on her 24th birthday, had become available. It sounded like a warning to me to get great or go home, Lam said.
In the group for women, she placed first. After a contest, “it was addicted to be top of the podium.” It compelled me to keep striving for that large.
