50,000 public officers to be appointed, trained for election duties; some have been notified

SINGAPORE: About 50, 000 people officials are expected to be appointed and trained to handle election, polling and counting actions ahead of the following General Election.

The Elections Department ( ELD ) said this on Wednesday ( Mar 6), in response to CNA’s queries on whether public servants have been called up to begin training as election officials.

Earlier this month, CNA learnt that at least six people workers, including professors, from various ministries and legal planks have received notice of their position as election officials since last week. &nbsp,

A few public servants from various companies, who spoke on condition of anonymity, furthermore said some of their coworkers had been notified via internet. &nbsp,

One common slave was notified that they had been appointed as a presiding officer, in an internet seen by CNA. They were instructed to log in to an election officials ‘ website using their Singpass to finish the recruitment process, and find out more about their vote nomination and election approach. &nbsp,

A presiding officer is an election official who conducts and assists with polling trials at the voting place. It is one among many roles– including associate returning officials and counting assistants – normally assigned to vote officials. &nbsp,

These representatives monitor the election process at polling stations, typically located within schools, neighborhood centres or space decks.
