10,000 new homes to be built in Yishun; potential residential development at Gillman Barracks

SINGAPORE: The government will construct a new home neighborhood at Gillman Barracks and a fresh casing area in Yishun to join the housing demand.

National Development Minister Desmond Lee revealed this on Tuesday ( Mar 5 ) as he revealed the spending schedule for his organization for the year.

In Chencharu’s fresh Yishun house, which is close to the Khatib MRT place, about 10,000 homes will be constructed.

The first Build- to- Order ( BTO ) project, which consists of 1, 200 two-room Flexi to five-room flats, will be launched in June, according to the Ministry of National Development and the Housing and Development Board in a press release. At least 80 % will be public housing.

In the upcoming times, additional jobs in the area may start gradually.

The Urban Redevelopment Authority ( URA ) designated Chencharu as a new housing area in June 2022. In order to make way for restoration, two tenants in that region, including the Orto amusement park, which housed prawning and longkang fish ponds, vacated their buildings next June.

According to Mr. Lee, the site may offer” a significant supply of new houses,” especially for those who want to live close to their parents in the area.

Khatib MRT and another accessibility initiatives may serve Chencharu people in the future.

In addition to Khatib Central and HomeTeam NS Khatib, fresh fun, community, and business spaces will also be constructed.
