Muhammad Yunus, the Nobel prize, has arrived in Bangladesh away of taking the oath of office.
Sheikh Hasina, the girl who ruled Bangladesh for 15 years with an iron fist, fled across the frontier to India just weeks before the 84-year-old.
After months of student-led protests that resulted in thousands of fatalities, calls for her to step down erupted.
One of the students pleaded with Prof. Yunus to lead the interim government, hoping that the so-called “banker for the poor” did resurrect Bangladesh after years of authoritarian rule.
Following a meeting between President Mohammed Shahabuddin, military rulers, and student officials, Prof. Yunus was chosen as the time government’s chief adviser.
