SINGAPORE: Holding interreligious dialogues requires courage, as it means leaving oneself open to criticism, Pope Francis said on Friday ( Sep 13 ).
” Do you have the confidence to reject, and at the same time allow yourself to be criticised”? During his last moment of a visit to Singapore, the pope had a religious meeting with students at Catholic Junior College ( CJC).
According to Pope Francis, dialogue between young people will also foster greater speech among citizens of the larger society.
He noted that criticism is be creative or problematic, and youths, while being important, must also have respect for others of various faiths.
Pope Francis once said, “young is really the time of our lives ‘ fortitude.”
He said,” You can have this courage and use it for things that really do n’t help you, or you can use it to advance and start a dialogue,” he said.
He urged young persons to be brave, approachable, and willing to leave their comfort zones and take up interethnic cooperation.
” A young person that stays only in their own satisfaction and wants a comfortable living, becomes fat”, said the pope, to laugh from the crowd.
” Do n’t let your stomach get fat, but let your head get fat. And for this reason, I say, take challenges. Go out there. Do n’t have fear. Do n’t be afraid”.
