The attempt to bring fugitive former PMYingluck Shinawatraback to the country is still on, with her brother Thaksin saying there are still several factors that need to be taken into consideration before she could return home.

In an interview with Nikkei Japan in November next year, Thaksin made the commitment to return his sister to the land, vowing to do so around Songkran this year.

He was quoted as saying that, despite the schedule and possibility, he did not see any obstructions to Yingluck’s gain and that she might be able to return just before the Songkran event.

In front of the internet on Sunday, he reiterated his commitment, stating that the program hasn’t changed despite some problems that need to be addressed.

He did not go into any information.

When questioned about whether Yingluck would be able to visit this year, Thaksin responded,” I’m also looking into it.” In truth, she said she wanted to return yesterday”.

Yingluck fled the country in 2017, quickly before a court decision on her administration’s failed rice-pledging system.

The Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Persons Holding Political Positions sentenced Yingluck to five years in prison on Sept 27, 2017, for failing to stop the corruption-plagued, government-to-government income of corn from her government’s rice-pledging system that ran up at least 500 billion ringgit in costs.

Due to Yingluck’s absence from the court on August 25, 2017, when the judgement was read, the sentence was handed down.

A permit for her imprisonment that was later issued is still active.

In the meantime, Thaksin claimed to have spoken with Finance Minister Pichai Chunhavajira and Deputy Prime Minister Pichai Chunhavajira, who confirmed the visit of the president of the Bank of Thailand’s table may become made within two weeks.
