Two arrests made but as many as 10 defendants believed involved, say researchers

Following a vehicle bombing attack on Yala province’s Bannang Sata police stop on June 30 that left one person dead and 34 wounded, the district’s superintendent has been moved.
Pol Col Ranon Surawit, may be moved to the Southern Border Provinces Investigation Division as its acting supervisor. He will succeed Pol Col. Phrompat Sanitsri as the station’s acting supervisor.
The director of Provincial Police Region 9 that includes the southwestern border regions, Pol Lt Gen Piyawat Chaloemsi, announced the move as one of several things on Friday.
The bombing killed Rokiyoh Sarana, a 45- year- aged woman Muslim spiritual teacher, and injured 34 different people, including police officers, women and children.
The authorities have provided financial support for the dying woman’s home and arrested two offenders: Mustafa Malae, 27, an associate civil engineer with the Than To Subdistrict Administrative Organisation, and Maropee Hama, 45, a native of Than To.
According to the original police investigation, at least 10 people were thought to have been involved in carrying out the crime. Another defendants are being detained.
Transferred from Bannang Sata to the Royal Thai Police Forward Post command centre were deputy superintendent ( suppression ) Pol Lt Col Kittathat Chanchai, and inspector ( suppression ) Pol Lt Col Somchit Hinpetch. They will be replaced by Lt Col Prayut Pojeen, deputy superintendent ( inquiry ) at Bannang Sata, and Pol Capt Akkarawas Suksomboon, deputy inspector ( suppression ) from the Betong station.
