Blinken and Wang discussed China’s support for Russia, which has quickly rebuilt its military center two years after its conquest of Ukraine, according to State Department spokesman Matthew Miller.

Vladimir Putin, the chairman of Russia, announced this week that he would travel to China in May.

As he opened the meeting with Wang, Blinken said China and the US should control the partnership “responsibly” and added:” I hope we make some headway on the problems our leaders agreed” on at the California conference.

The two places should be as” clear as possible about the places where we have distinctions- at the very least to prevent misunderstandings, to prevent miscalculations”, Blinken said.

Given the impact our marriage has, he said,” That really is a shared responsibility for our own people as well as for people around the world,” he said.

Biden, who recently spoke with Xi over the phone, will face a difficult re-election battle in November against his former partner, Donald Trump, who has vowed to take a hard line against China.
