SINGAPORE:  , It may not have the most appealing of names, but the Worm Moon is still set to beautify the night sky on Monday ( Mar 25 ).
Although officially known as a micromoon- the reverse of a supermoon, according to a NASA guide to the night sky- it will still look complete and massive to stargazers.  ,
The Worm Moon’s distinctive name comes from southern tribes in the US, as its presence coincides with animal trails that are apparent as the ground freezes, said the guide.
NASA added that in the northern Christian religious timeline, it is also known as the Paschal Moon, from which the date of Easter is calculated. In various cultures or views, it heralds the arrival of spring.  ,
Local science beginner class Stargazing Singapore said that sample will be at 7.15pm, with the Worm Moon accessible at the sky by 7.30pm if the skies are clear.  ,
” March’s Full Moon is known as the Worm Moon because this was the moment of year when the earth would begin to soften, and the insects would return. This Full Moon is also known as the Crow Moon, the Crust Moon, the Sap Moon, and the Lenten Moon”, the team said in a Facebook post.  ,
