Work It Podcast: Can burnout be self-inflicted?

Here’s an extract from the talk:

Gerald Tan:
But the strangest thing is, I did n’t experience burnout working for people then, but when I was doing my own business, working for myself.

We are so used to hearing people talk about stress and my manager, supervisor, the work, the society, correct? But for me, it did n’t come from there. When I was working for myself, next the stress started. &nbsp,

Tiffany Ang:
That’s something that people do n’t really talk about much, which is when you set out to be an entrepreneur, you have a mission where you’re so excited about it, you want to create something. However, people are unaware that business owners can also become exhausted. &nbsp,

Gerald:
I&nbsp, think businesses are very mad. We do extremely bad points to ourselves. I wrote about it some time ago, correct? That businesses, we may try to pack every minute with everything. We make an effort to fight every prospect because we are unsure of what it will lead.

We make an effort to give our best effort in everything we do, like we put in 100 % because we want to give a strong consideration of ourselves, especially in the early days. But then all of this requires a lot of time, dedication, work, determination, and a lot of ourselves. You give a lot of money to your job, but you soon realize you’re already running out. &nbsp,

Tiffany:
Yeah, but what exactly is burnout?

Gerald:
Most of us mistake fatigue for simply being tired. Simply put, we are aware of what it is.
