Woman returning from Dubai is 5th monkeypox case

Thailand has authorized its fifth situation of monkeypox, the Thai woman who also returned from Dubai.

Doctor Opas Karnkawinpong, director-general of the Department associated with Disease Control, stated on Monday the fact that woman, aged twenty five, arrived at Suvarnabhumi airport on Sunday.

She fell sick before her flight and cooperated well with health personnel on her appearance.

Health officials noticed blisters on her body and a test confirmed her infection with monkeypox. The woman had recently been admitted to medical center for treatment, Dr Opas said.

Only the 2 foreigners who sat next to the woman over the flight were considered high-risk contacts. They were advised to take a test for the disease. Nevertheless , statistically there was simply no record of people sitting down next to an contaminated person catching the disease, he said.

Dr Opas said no illness had been detected within the high-risk contacts of the previous four instances in Thailand. Worldwide, there were more than thirty, 000 known monkeypox cases, and only six had died, he or she said.
