Following a day of torrential rain that caused flash storms in the northeastern province of Mae Hong Son, an unidentified girl went missing.

Local catastrophe prevention and mitigation authorities reported on Saturday that a town in the tambon Huai Pha of the Muang city had been inundated by periods of rain that had caused discharge from the Mae Sa Ngee and Moe S Nga streams.

A 39-year-old woman vanished as a result of the flood, which also seriously damaged six homes, 300 sacks of corn, two trucks, 10 motorcycles, 2 tractors, and numerous animal.

Assistance is being hurriedly provided as part of an operation to locate the missing person and save the animal.

The missing person was last seen by locals riding her bicycle through the floodwaters, but they were powerless to stop her from being carried away.

Five park employees and nearby residents were briefly trapped in Tham Pla-Namtok Pha Suea National Park before being saved by the rising waters, which also toppled windows and roads.

When rivers suddenly swept through the location, some people in tambon Mok Cham Pae had to walk plants. Highway 1095, the principal route connecting Mae Hong Son and Chiang Mai, was blocked by the floods, which even uprooted trees and moved stones.

The Huai Pha Tambon Administrative Organization’s deputy chief, Sukila Suwattanamethee, described the situation as severe with significant damage to people utilities, structures, homes, farms, and cattle.

Officials in the provinces and districts are putting a lot of effort into reducing the tragedy.
