SINGAPORE: A 33-year-old girl was given a one-week prison term on November 8th for twice accompanying her fiancé to the Police Cantonment Complex to review for bail.
In accordance with the Infrastructure Protection Act, Siti Zulaika A Rahman admitted guilt to one fee of filming her fiancé, Mohd Heirizal Kamarzaman, in a secure location. A second, related charge was also taken into account.
Siti indicated she could not pay the fine of S$ 15, 000 ( US$ 11, 000 ) to S$ 20, 000 sought by the trial, according to the judge, who said she was sentenceing her to a jail term.
According to the jury, Siti accompanied her co-accusation and fiancé, 41-year-old Heirizal, on July 13 to appear for loan at the Central Police Division at Police Cantonment Complex.
Heirizal texted Siti to let her know when he was finished, and she consented to take a picture of him leaving the glass entrance using her phone.
According to the trial, he was seen” swaggering” out the door while sporting a scar on his shoulder and his middle finger.
Heirizal received the movie from Siti and eventually posted it on TikTok along with the music” I’m a Gangster.”
Police Cantonment Complex was mentioned as the site.
According to the trial, the film received more than 380 likes and at least 125 shares.
On August 1st, Siti went back with him to the Police Cantonment Complex so he could post bond.
Heirizal used his phone to record the desk workstation while his bond was being processed, taking pictures of a feminine officer’s experience and the wall mark behind her.
Heirizal handed his cellphone to Siti after he finished reporting his parole, and she filmed him from the rear with his permission.
The jury overheard him exaggerating his actions for the camera.
The two videos from that day were stitched by Heirizal, who then posted them on TikTok.
The music with a name that contained an adverb directed at the police was set to an excerpt in the video.
The video was shared eight days and received at least 13 likes.
Proposals OF PROSECUTION
The Police Cantonment Complex was a protected place under the Infrastructure Protection Act, according to Deputy Public Prosecutor Sarah Siaw.
The couple may have passed some of the signs on the property on their way in, which at the time stated that illegal shooting was not permitted.
She claimed that the structure was important from a safety standpoint. It served as the Criminal Investigation Department’s main office and was widely regarded as a symbol of the Singapore Police Force.
Even though the videos themselves have no connection to any harm or danger, illegal shooting undermines the concept that the Police Cantonment Complex is a protected area, according to Ms. Siaw.
She continued by saying that these videos that are circulated online may give the impression that the ban on unapproved filming is not taken seriously and may lead people to believe that protection measures for such properties are not strictly enforced.
If Siti was unable to pay the fine of Mho$ 15, 000 to S$ 20, 000, she requested one to two weeks in jail.
Siti admitted to the court that he didn’t want to take the movies, but she also wanted to avoid upsetting his fiancé.
She claimed that she had” a circumstance against him” right now. I simply took the films because I didn’t want him to get upset with me. She merely feared that he would assault me.
When asked to expound on the situation she had against Heirizal, Siti replied,” I have reported a circumstance of abuse, and he is facing charges here in court.”
Heirizal faces claims of hurting Siti with a heated hair straightening in June at an apartment in York Hill, as well as of repeatedly kicking and slapping her body since December 2022, in addition to the corresponding fees for taking the video in Police Cantonment Complex.
Siti begged for forgiveness and vowed never to commit the same crimes again.
She could have been imprisoned for up to two years, fined as much as Mho$ 20, 000, or both for taking a picture in an area that was protected.
In December, Heirizal is scheduled for a pre-trial event.
