Woman jailed for scalding ex-boyfriend with hot water during argument

SINGAPORE: A woman was on Monday (Aug 29) jailed for three days for scalding the girl ex-boyfriend with warm water during an argument.

Shazila Akbar Bacha, 25, pleaded guilty to one depend of voluntarily leading to hurt to the sufferer. Another similar cost was considered regarding sentencing.

The particular court heard that will Shazila and the 31-year-old victim were earlier in a relationship, together broken up at the time of the particular offence.

On Jul 18, 2021, Shazila and the target both separately visited visit their friend. They chanced upon each other along the corridor outdoors their friend’s smooth.

The prosecutor sought a prison term, arguing that will Shazila was not provoked as she experienced challenged the sufferer to repeat their comments before splashing hot water on him.

Mr Chong also argued that the use of hot water had been aggravating given the problem of controlling this, and the danger because it could affect better surface areas.

Defence lawyer Mahadevan Lukshumayeh contended that will Shazila had obtained harassing messages through the victim.

The penalty for voluntarily causing hurt is about three years’ prison, a fine of up to S$5, 000 or both.
