SINGAPORE: A woman who poured coffee on a lion dance costume and kicked its head at West Coast Community Centre in 2023 was fined S$ 4, 000 ( US$ 2, 990 ) on Wednesday ( Feb 26 ).  ,
Lim Sok Lay, 52, was upset that her brother had joined the bear dancing team.  ,
Prior to her punishment, she previously admitted guilt to two counts of mischief and using legal force.  ,
Her father, Cheang Eng Hock, 60, also faces related costs and is set to confess guilty on Mar 19.  ,
Prior to the hearing, the couple’s son’s parents were alleged to dislike their son’s association with the band because they thought it would have a negative impact on him.  ,
On Jul 29, 2023, knowing that their brother’s band was performing at West Coast Community Centre, the pair went that to fight the people. Lim poured espresso over the show’s bear dancing costume, causing staining that could not be removed. Additionally, she kicked the mind of the outfit.
She caused injury equivalent to S$ 1, 330, as the costume was no longer be used in cat party events.
A group of around 200 people were at the contest, and Lim’s activities disrupted the occasion for about 10 minutes.  ,
In a previous tragedy in February 2023, Lim pushed a man she thought had scratched the head of her newborn grandson. This was after the sufferer, a distant acquaintance of the home, offered , to bring Lim’s five-month-old nephew.  ,
After noticing , a damage on the mother’s head later that night, she believed that the gentleman had caused it, although there was no evidence to prove this. The victim was confronted at a coffee shop the following day, and Lim pushed him five days before running away.
Since then, Lim has since made a voluntary partial payment of$ 665 to the lion dance troupe.  ,
One of the considerations District Judge Lorraine Ho made for the imprisonment was this.  ,
While she acknowledged that Lim had been personal, the prosecutor said that the accused’s steps had been” obviously harmful, unnecessary and absurd”.  ,
Although the accused was of believing she was simple-minded, the prosecutor argued that Lim’s tardiness and delay in the competition had also contributed to the accused’s view.  ,
