A woman has claimed she was tricked into having sex with a fortune teller who told her it would help save her marriage.
She also claimed the so-called Kanchanaburi-based clairvoyant went on to defraud her out of 14 million baht.
The 30-year-old businesswoman, identified as Aye, made the complaint to Ekkapop Laungprasert, founder of the Sai Mai Tong Rot Facebook emergency page and adviser to the interior minister
She said she first came into contact with the fortune teller through a social media channel in late 2021. Suspecting her husband was having an affair, she sought the fortune teller’s advice on how to change her fortunes.
After an online consultation, Ms Aye felt he made an accurate assessment of her life and began to trust him.
They maintained contact, and last year, she hired him to check the feng shui or Chinese geomancy of her new house in the Don Muang area. She also said she was having bad dreams.
The fortune teller told her she had fallen victim to black magic and that she needed to exorcise it immediately.
To do so, he advised her to treat him as though he was her husband by sleeping with him, which she did.
However, a month later, with the dreams persisting, the fortune teller told her to meet him at his office, where she saw photos of celebrities and politicians among his clients, which made her trust him more. They continued to have “ritual sex”.
In March, he said the woman’s husband was cheating on her and persuaded her to break up with her husband.
Ms Aye said she paid a large sum for the rites and ended up losing more than 14 million baht. She also discovered the fortune teller had swindled other people too. Mr Ekkapop suggested she and the others collect evidence and submit a police complaint.
