Woman, 70, arrested after pickpocketing cases at Yishun market

SINGAPORE: A 70- time- old woman was arrested on Saturday ( Jun 15 ) after she reportedly pickpocketed cards at Chong Pang industry in Yishun.

Between July 24, 2023 and June 13, 2024, the officers received several accounts of missing cards in the Yishun Ring Road area.

Officials from Woodlands Police Division discovered the woman’s individuality through ground searches and closed-circuit television images, and she was detained on Saturday.

According to preliminary investigations, the old lady allegedly stole pockets from people who had their luggage unzipped. The girl threw away the cards near the business after taking out the money.

She is believed to be involved in another similar crimes, the authorities said.

On Monday, the person may be charged with robbery in court. If found guilty, she may become jailed for up to three years, fined or both.

The police advised the government to keep their belongings safe and remain watchful of pickpockets, according to the police.
