Pol Gen Watcharapol Prasarnrajkit, who retired on Monday, has been appointed as the acting chair of the National Anti-Corruption Commission ( NACC). Witthaya Akhompitak has been chosen as the interim president of the NACC.
A inspector may be chosen to take the chairperson’s area until a new one is appointed, as per Part 19 of the Organic Act on Anti-Corruption, which states that a director may be chosen if there is no chairman or the chairman is unable to perform their duties.
In the NACC meet, a vote was held among the six existing directors, with a result of 5 to 1 in favour of Mr Witthaya to function as acting chairman.
After serving for nine years, his name did come to an end in December.
” After Pol Gen Watcharapol stepped down from his position, Mr Witthaya, who is the most senior part, may work as acting president for now. Nevertheless, he will retire at the end of this year”, a resource said.
Mr Witthaya, who has served as the NACC’s secretary-general, graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Ramkhamhaeng University and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Pathumthani University.
Before joining the NACC in 1982, he began his career with the Ministry of Interior.
Mr. Witthaya had formerly been unsuccessful in his bid to become a commissioner of the NACC, but he was finally chosen after making an application for the place a second time.
