‘Why I made a film about my addiction’

A recovering intoxicating, who nearly lost his life to imbibe, has made a film regarding his struggle.

Jit Chauhan, 48, of Oadby, Leicestershire, said he or she was drinking the litre of whisky a day when his addiction was in its worst.

Jit, who might be of Guajarati heritage, said he discovered it difficult to get assist.

He’s now made a movie to try to break the stigma he says surrounds addiction in South Asian communities.

The movie has been shown around Leicester, including the Guru Tegh Bahadur Gurdwara.

He stated: “Initially I was a little ‘Oh gosh, I can’t watch myself upon screen’. But you glance at the bigger picture and you believe ‘Yeah, let’s have this out there. Let’s help’. ”
