Who spent what: 5 things we learnt from the expense filings of the Presidential Election candidates

SINGAPORE: It was revealed on Friday( Oct 20 ) that Mr. Tharman Shanmugaratnam, the eventual winner of the 2023 Presidential Election, spent more than S$ 700,000( US$ 510,000 ) on his campaign, dwarfing the sums shelled out by the other two candidates, & nbsp, Mr Ng Kok Song, and Mr Tan Kin Lian.

The costs reports were made available for inspection by the Elections Department, and they are available online through April 2024 for a period of six months.

The amount insured was S$ 20,500 per person, which included sudden death, long-term illness, and injury-related medical costs.

Mr. Tharman was the only participant who appeared to have bought insurance cover for his individuals, and the insurance company was NTUC Income.
