What were Iswaran’s dealings with Ong Beng Seng and Lum Kok Seng?

Additionally, Iswaran was given items from another entrepreneur, Mr. Lum Kok Seng, the managing director of Lum Chang Holdings and the producer of Lum Chang Building Contractors.

The Land Transport Authority ( LTA ) gave Lum Chang Building Contractors a$ 325 million contract in 2016 for the construction of Tanah Merah Station and other existing viaducts.

LTA comes under the Ministry of Transport. Iswaran was transport secretary from May 15, 2021 to Jan 17, 2024, and was responsible for LTA in that power.

Iswaran contacted Mr. Lum to assist him in getting purple wine and vodka in the late 2021. He requested Mr. Lum check with his ordinary dealer “what he thinks about it” by sending a picture of a container of Gordon &amp, MacPhail Caol Ila vodka.

Mr. Lum informed Iswaran on January 7, 2022, that he had purchased two bottles of the vodka and may take it along with a batch of red wine. Iswaran thanked him.

Later that month, Mr Lum arranged for two containers of the vodka and 12 bottles of red wine, for about S$ 3, 200, to be sent to Iswaran’s house.

On another situation, Iswaran invited Mr Lum to his 60th birthday party on Jun 18, 2022. Mr Lum” suggested” to Iswaran that he would get him a folding bike for his day.

That June, Iswaran obtained a Brompton T Line vehicle from Mr Lum, valued at approximately S$ 7, 900.

Iswaran was aware that Mr. Lum was a contractor for LTA and Lum Chang Building. Receipt of these items thus constituted crimes under Section 165.

Additionally, Iswaran has purchased golf clubs, tools, and about$ 6,000 in additional whisky from Mr. Lum on different occasions.

The prosecutor was informed on Tuesday that Iswaran paid the state more than S$ 380,000 after the corruption charges against him were reduced to lesser charges under Part 165.

In the course of studies, CPIB furthermore seized the following products from Iswaran, which he agreed to sacrifice to the condition:

  • Four bottles of Gordon &amp’s MacPhail Caol Ila scotch retail for around S$ 1, 044.46.
  • Three jars of 2015 wines from Albert Bichot Domaine du Clos Frantin Grands Echezeaux Grand Cru with a S$, 177.21 bottle.
  • Three bottles of Pichon Lalande 2010 wine have a$ 955.80 value.
  • A TaylorMade sport drivers with a$ 749 value.
  • Nine Honma Beres BE-08 golfing clubs with a price of S$ 4, 420
  • A$ 7, 907.50 Brompton T Line vehicle.
  • Two jars of M&amp and H Elements Sherry Cask vodka with an S$ 198 value.
  • A Scotty Cameron Phantom sport idle and two golf-themed grinders costing about S$ 800.
