What to eat, where to shop at New Bahru, the latest food and lifestyle destination at Kim Yam Road

The Middle Road eatery, which is now owned by Singapore star chef Bjorn Shen, has relocated to the restaurant, which serves up old favorites like the Green Harissa Prawns, Popular Honey Fried Chicken, Mezze, and Falafel.

The pattern ideas for the cafe, Shen shared, came from the Swensen’s and Pizza Huts of the 1990s. Do n’t worry, George Costanza’s enormous poster and Borat’s framed artwork are still there.

Small’s, Shen’s empirical chef’s stand, is also here in the form of a desk behind a veil, but now has a staggering eight chairs compared to the previous four. The famous pizza-focused menu is now back there.

Reservations are essential as Artichoke’s popularity has n’t waned in the 14 years it’s been around – a real testament to the restaurant’s staying power.
