Chinese rescue teams are currently searching through the ruins of burned-out houses and dilapidated homes to find anyone who might be trapped beneath the debris two weeks after a deadly earthquake shook the nation.
The town of Wajima, one of the worst-hit, is where the BBC’s Jean Mackenzie is located, and there are still burning houses there.
According to Fumio Kishida, the prime minister of Japan, there is a “race against day” to save individuals because the earthquake has claimed many lives.
