Vivian Balakrishnan visits Israel's leaders, reiterates Singapore's view that its military actions in Gaza has 'gone too far'

SINGAPORE: Singapore’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan has told Israel’s officials during his working explore that the country’s deeds in Gaza have “gone to way”.

Dr Balakrishnan also&nbsp, called for an immediate ceasefire for aid to flow into Gaza swiftly, expressing Singapore ‘s&nbsp, deep concern with the dire humanitarian situation, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ( MFA ) in a statement on Wednesday.

Dr. Balakrishnan met with Israeli President Isaac Herzog, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and with Israel Katz, Foreign Affairs Minister, Benny Gantz, and former prime minister Naftali Bennett during the travels on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Minister Balakrishnan expressed condolences to all the victims of the Hamas strikes on October 7, 2023, according to MFA.

He reaffirmed Singapore’s denunciation of the terrorist attacks and demanded the fast, secure, and unequivocal release of all civil hostages from Gaza.

He demanded a swift and unhinged philanthropic ceasefire to facilitate the delivery of aid to Gaza, mainly via land-based routes.

MFA stated that Singapore will continue to collaborate with regional partners, including Jordan and Israel, to facilitate the Airdrop mission of the Republic of Singapore Air Force ( RSAF ) to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Nonetheless, Dr Balakrishnan furthermore reiterated Singapore’s see that” Israel’s military activities in Gaza has gone too much”, and called on Israel” to do its great to protect the safety and protection of citizens”.

Dr. Balakrishnan highlighted Singapore’s help for a negotiated two-state option in accordance with relevant UN Security Council resolutions during the visit.

” This is the only viable road towards a complete, just and sturdy harmony between the Israelis and Palestinians,” said MFA.

Together with other Members of Parliament, Dr Balakrishnan individually met with members of Israel’s Knesset, or legislature, including those from the National Unity, United Arab List and Labour events.

He will depart from Israel on Wednesday for the United Arab Emirates.
