SINGAPORE: Foreign Matters Minister Vivian Balakrishnan will make a working visit to Bali from Jul 7 to Jul 8 to attend the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.
Singapore is going to the meeting in the invitation of Indonesian Minister for Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, said the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) on Thursday (Jul 7).
“Singapore has been invited since Convenor of the Global Governance Group, which comprises 30 small- and medium-sized associates of the United Nations plus which seeks in order to facilitate greater dialogue between the G20 and the wider UN membership rights, ” added MFA.
Against the background of increased geopolitical tensions, high pumpiing and concerns on the global supply string, MFA said the foreign ministers will focus their discussions on strengthening multilateralism as well as addressing as well as energy security.
They will be guided by the theme of Indonesia’s 2022 G20 Presidency “Recover Together, Recover Stronger”.
MFA said Doctor Balakrishnan will also possess bilateral meetings together with his counterparts from other countries for the sidelines of the G20 meeting.
He will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The collecting in Bali would be the first time that foreign ministers from some of the planet’s top economies meet Russian Foreign Ressortchef (umgangssprachlich) Sergei Lavrov given that Russia invaded Ukraine in February.
Ukraine’s ambassador to Indonesia Vasyl Hamianin also said their country’s foreign ressortchef (umgangssprachlich) would give a virtual address at the Bali meeting.
Ukraine is not a member from the G20, but the seats of the grouping possess previously invited nations as guests to join meetings.
