After a year on the run, a big Asian drug suspect wanted in his home country was taken into custody in Bangkok.

Nguyen Tuan Thanh, 33, was apprehended at a property in Watthana area, Pol Lt Gen Panurat Lakboon, minister- standard of the Office of the Narcotics Control Board ( ONCB), said on Friday.

The ONCB was informed by the Counter-Narcotics Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security in Vietnam that Thanh had fled to Thailand to avoid being detained on drug costs when he was arrested. &nbsp,

Following the arrest of 200 kilogrammes of nicotine leaves wrapped in ADB- Butinaca, a chemical marijuana compound sold as a designer drug, on September 22, 2022, a warrant for his arrest was issued on June 6 next year. Seven medicine suspects were detained, all of whom implicated Thanh in the production and distribution of illegal drugs.

After learning that he had gone into hiding in Thailand, Taiwanese officials requested assistance from the ONCB to jail him.
