Officials in Malaysia have detained a 33-year-old international national in connection with a viral video of a feline being skinned.
The North Klang district police in Malaysia’s Selangor state said in a statement posted on Facebook on Wednesday that the man was detained on Tuesday ( Jun 25 ) after a report was made about the video.
The 47- following movie, which the authorities received via WhatsApp, apparently shows a man cutting a whitened cat.
As the kitty lay on the ground, with some of its hair covered in blood, he is spotted wielding a helicopter.
The man, who appears to converse in halting Malay, is then seen skinning the dog. At one level, he could be heard telling the people filming the work to give notice.
As part of its studies, the police also seized a cellular telephone belonging to the suspect.
The person is being looked into in terms of the Penal Code’s Area 428, which deals with pet cruelty. If found guilty, he may become jailed for up to three years and fined.
The Malaysia Animal Association had earlier posted a message on its Facebook page offering a RM3, 000 ( US$ 636 ) reward for people who provide information that could lead to the arrest of the man.
The organization claimed that the man is a member of a Selangor snack shop and is a federal of Myanmar.
