SINGAPORE: A 22-year-old man has been charged with murder over a fight that broke out in the wee hours of Sunday ( Sep 22 ) and claimed the life of a 25-year-old man.
Muhammad Sajid Saleem received the capital punishment, while five others received rioting-related costs.

Around 4am on September 22, a fight broke out along Verdun Road, which is close to Kitchener Road. The six defendants were detained.
The five charged with fighting are: Satish Jason Prabahas, 23, Kirrthik Roshan Prem Ananth, 22, Pradave Shashi Kumar, 20, Nur Diyana Harun Al Rasheed, 24, and Kasthuri Kallidas Marimuthu, 24.
According to the command sheets, at least one of them was reportedly carrying a deadly weapons during the mob, and three people, including Mr. Dhinessh, Mr. Naviinjaay C Nathan, and Mr. K. Vicknesh, were also injured as a result.
The police attorney asked for all six to be remanded for further studies, to carry raids, capture exhibits and explore the picture.
The murder suspect was arraigned by Mr. Divanan Narkunan of Phoenix Law, who claimed the community people had only given him a briefing.
He requested to speak with his customer to let him know that he is “entitled to under the Constitution” at this time.
The attorney initially opposed the request, saying it might be feasible after a year’s custody.
The prosecutor adjourned the hearing to Sep 30 after telling the prosecutor that he could submit the application again at the following court hearing.
Crime is punishable by the death penalty, while rioting while using deadly force can result in punishment and up to 10 years in jail. People may be caned.
The six were kept in custody for the purposes of more investigation and will go back to court the following year.
