US woman arrested for faking her kidnapping in India

Police in India’s national capital Delhi have arrested a north american woman for apparently staging her own kidnapping.

The 27-year-old woman faked her abduction to “blackmail” her parents directly into sending money right after she ran out associated with cash, police mentioned.

The woman had arrived at India on 3 May, according to local media reports.

She phoned her mother on 7 July and said she was being assaulted by a man, NDTV reported.

Police in Delhi began investigating the girl whereabouts after the ALL OF US Embassy forwarded the complaint from the girl family to them.

They will traced the IP addresses from which the girl had sent a message to American Citizen services and made a video call to her mother, the Indian native Express newspaper reported.

Based on this, they traced and caught a 31-year-old guy from Nigeria, whom said during interrogation that the woman has been staying in an apartment within Noida, on the outskirts of Delhi.

“After her rescue, it had been revealed that she had staged the incident to blackmail her parents, inch New Delhi’s mouthpiece commissioner of law enforcement, Amrutha Guguloth, told the Indian Express.

Police said the girl, who is from Washington DC, had fulfilled the man through Facebook and was sticking with him since the girl reached India.

They also found that the female’s visa and man’s passport had expired.

The police said they might take action against the 2 for staying in Indian without valid documents.
