Police earlier recently arrested an American guy and a Thai lady suspected of smuggling drugs via the postal service.
Wichai Chaimongkol, secretary-general of the Office of the Narcotics Control Plank, said at a push conference yesterday the arrests followed the work of the special job force which found a suspicious deal at Suvarnabhumi airport terminal on Monday.
The team found a book along with various drugs inside, such as 2 grammes of ecstasy, 4-g of fentanyl, 8g of ketamine, 9g of meth plus 10g of crack.
Police said they discovered the package belonged to a man from the United States who showed up upon Tuesday to receive the package. He had been then arrested at a hotel in Watthana district. That led to the arrest of the Thai woman inside a Ratchathewi condo, police said.
Mr Wichai stated although the amounts of the particular drugs were little, police would keep an eye on the matter because it included fentanyl.
“This is the very first time we’ve seized smuggled fentanyl, ” this individual said. “It is among the deadliest drug threats. ”
According to the US Facilities for Disease Manage and Prevention, the drug is 50 times stronger compared to heroin and hundred times more potent compared to morphine.
Locally, fentanyl is considered a Type 2 narcotic, meaning hospitals must hold a licence to acquire it.
