It was a whirlwind of diplomatic activity in Taiwan on Wed (Aug 3) along with US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visiting parliament, meeting President Tsai Ing-wen and holding the joint news meeting during a controversial check out that has sparked frustration from China.
The highest-level US trip to Taiwan in 25 years has pushed unsupported claims to new ranges.
In response to Pelosi’s visit, a mad China announced army exercises in the sea near Taiwan and launched a volley of trade curbs contrary to the island.

PELOSI’S COMMENTS AT PARLIAMENT
Taiwan is one of the freest societies in the world, Pelosi stated during a meeting with Tsai Chi-chang, the deputy speaker of Taiwan’s parliament.
The girl called for more parliamentary exchanges with Taiwan, and said new US legislation targeted at strengthening the American chip industry to compete with China “offers greater opportunity for US-Taiwan economic cooperation”.
“We come in companionship to Taiwan, we come in peace towards the region, ” Pelosi added.
US SOLIDARITY WITH TAIWAN
The US will never abandon Taiwan, Pelosi said during her meeting with Taiwan Chief executive Tsai Ing-wen, reiterating that Washington wants the territory in order to always have freedom along with security and will not back away from that will.
“Now, as part of your, America’s solidarity with Taiwan is crucial , and that’s the message we are bringing right here today, ” she said.
Pelosi added, however , the US supports this self-destruction. “We are followers of the status quo as well as the rest, and we do not want anything to happen to Taiwan by force, ” she said.
TAIWAN WILL NEVER BACK DOWN: TSAI
Echoing what Pelosi said, Tsai declared that the island is committed to maintaining the status quo across the Taiwan Strait, adding that there has been no need for The far east to launch military exercises in response to the particular visit.
“Military exercises are unneeded responses. Taiwan is definitely open to constructive conversation, and we will work with stakeholders to bring about balance and peace in the area, ” she said at a joint information conference with Pelosi.
“Facing deliberately heightened military risks, Taiwan will not back down. We will… continue to hold the line of defence with regard to democracy. ”
Tsai also thanked the US delegation because of its visit.
“We are grateful for your delegations’ visit under such challenging situations as a demonstration associated with unwavering support to the people of Taiwan. The Speaker’s existence here in Taiwan acts to boost public confidence in the strength of our own democracy as a foundation to our partnership using the United States, ” the lady said.
