Over the course of five months, she spent S$ 29, 246 ( US$ 21, 416 ) on online shopping and paid her own credit card bills using her director’s bank account.
The business director lost more than S$ 45,000 in full.
28-year-old Singaporean Jocelyn Lee Sock Hui was given a 15-month prison term on Tuesday, October 24, and was required to pay the target S$ 23 767 in restitution.
She had previously paid S$ 22,000 in return on her own.
Lee admitted guilt to three additional charges, including two counts of staff fraud and criminal breach of trust.
A CASE
According to information provided to the jury, Lee started working as an administrative assistant at Hai-Ou Co in 2014.
She handled getting purchases, passages, and payments for the sufferer, Hai-Ou director Lee Kin Choi, 78.
Lee was given access to the victim’s credit card information and online banking information so that Lee had make payments and assist him in printing out bank statements.
According to court documents, Lee was not an expert in information technology and was uncomfortable with online issues, so he had faith in him.
Before March 2020, Lee began to harbor resentment toward her supervisor because she felt undervalued as a worker.
She made the decision to use the victim’s credit card information to make purchases for herself on websites like Shopee and Lazada.
Between March and July 2020, she even accessed the victim’s bank accounts to make payments for her personal credit card bills as well as the credit cards she had accrued using his cards.
Between March 5 and August 5, 2020, Lee purchased goods for herself on Shopee on 77 occasions using the victim’s cards.
She spent Sulfur$ 29, 246.45, in full.
In order to avoid recognition, Lee also committed fraud by erroneously concealing the illegal transactions with papers and photocopying consolidated bank statements before giving them to the victim.
On August 24, 2020, Lee was the target of a police statement from the victim’s daughter-in-law.
Lee paid the sufferer back with S$ 22, 000 in compensation.
The attorney asked for Lee to serve 17 to 20 months in prison, citing the sums involved, the length of the offending time, any misuse of faith, and the precautions taken to avoid recognition.
Lee was given permission by the prosecutor to start serving her sentence in December. Additionally, she must pay the full amount by subsequently or risk spending an additional three weeks in jail.
