Full-moon gathering start collides with medical boat
One person was killed and two others were hurt when two skiffs collided on Monday night near Koh Samui area.
About one navigational hour off Bo Phut in the Koh Samui city, they crashed. It was reported to local authorities about 8.30pm, Pol Lt Sirachat Kamunee, officer on duty at Bo Phut police place, said on Tuesday.
The Chor Chokchanita 22, a boat operated by Funnyday Co, and the , Bangkok Samui 2, owned by Bangkok Samui Hospital, were travelling in opposing instructions, he said.
Two doctor workers on the Bangkok Samui 2 - , Kriengkai Somboonying, and Waruwa Artwichai- were hurt. The driver of the Chor Chokchanita 22, Sutthikiat Samthong, was even hurt.
The wounded three persons were transported to Bangkok Samui Hospital, where Kriengkai eventually passed away, according to Pol Lt Sirachat.
Kriengkrai was on the team of Phangan International Hospital, a unit of Bangkok Samui Hospital. Ms Waruna is a nurse at the doctor.  ,
The work officer claimed that the incident took place when the ship Chor Chokchanita 22 was leaving Koh Samui for Rin Beach on Koh Phangan for the full-moon group. After giving a person to Bangkok Samui Hospital, the doctor boat was heading toward its foundation on Koh Phanang.
The , Chor Chokchanita 22 carried four personnel and the , Bangkok Samui 2 had five persons on board at the time.
The cause of the accident was still being looked into by authorities.  ,
