Two people were slain and five others wounded in a gunfight between two gangs in a car park in a night market in Muang district of Ubon Ratchathani late on Wednesday night time.
The gangs clashed in the car park of Nikorn Thani market, near Big C superstore’s Muang district branch on Chayangkul Road, said Pol Luxury touring Kiarttichart Satho, deputy investigation chief at Muang police train station.
Emergency responders sent to the particular scene found seven young men, aged regarding 20-25 years, got sustained bullet injuries. They were rushed to three nearby private hospitals. Two of them who had been shot in the head and body were pronounced dead at a hospital, Thai mass media reported.
At least 70 invested cartridges were found scattered over the parking area. Five vehicles were damaged.
Witnesses informed police they noticed a noisy quarrel between two categories of young men. The quarrel quickly escalated to violence with many gunshots fired. The gunfire continued for several minutes.
Seven individuals were hit by bullets. Five ended up laying in pools of blood in the car park, and the two other people were found at the nearby food store, Pol Lt Kiarttichart said.
A preliminary investigation found that membrs associated with two gangs were involved – the particular Kham Yai team and the Hat Wat Tai gang. They had met to settle an individual dispute at a barbequed meat shop in the area.
They failed to reach any kind of agreement and a loud quarrel erupted. The two groups left the shop for the nearby parking lot plus gunshots were heard shortly after.
Pol Lt Gen Somprasong Yenthuam, commissioner of the Provincial Law enforcement Region 3, mentioned the gunfight survived about 10 minutes. One suspect had been imprisoned.
Nationwide police chief Pol Gen Suwat Jangyodsuk was flying in order to Ubon Ratchathani for any full briefing for the case, the Regal Thai Police Office said.
The police investigation was continuing.
