Two Chinese men were wanted in connection with the April 2010 figure discovery of a friend in a Bangkok suburb, according to Thai police, who made the arrests on Friday.

The suspects, who had been detained in Laos in June, were taken into custody in the northern province of Nong Khai, which borders the Chinese investment Vientiane, after they were evidently transferred to Thai officials.

Takuya Kato, 50, and Hiroto Suzuki, 28, are accused of murdering and dismembering brother gang Ryosuke Kabashima, 47. Before discovering that the two had fled to Laos, Thai officials placed them on the wanted record.

On Saturday, the defendants are scheduled to be interrogated at a police station in a Bangkok neighborhood.

Authorities believe the victim and two Chinese defendants were members of a large gang gang called Yamaguchi-gumi, according to sources with knowledge of the case.

A former crew chief was detained in Lop Buri at the age of 72 in 2018, which earlier made headlines for the Yamaguchi-gumi group. He was afterwards sent to Japan for extradition.
