Local authorities had supervise their travel, and the French child and his family made it clear that they would continue their journey to Bangkok’s Don Mueang airport.

The Chinese rider later recovered and boarded a trip to Hat Yai in Songkhla state after being taken to a private hospital for sutures to close a five-centimeter wound.

Chiang Mai International Airport’s general manager, Wing Commander Ronnakorn Chalermsanyakorn, has apologized for the tragedy and said he will take any liability or condemnation that may come up.

The airport’s cooling system, which was exacerbated by recent heavy rain, was the source of the moisture that the carrier’s initial investigation revealed.

The afflicted area has been partially repaired and is now back in use.
