Two doctors face suspension in Thaksin hospital case

The former PM’s health condition is not enough to support a hospital stay for the duration of a prison sentence.

After concluding that former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra was never thoroughly poor, which had been cited as the justification for him to serve out his jail sentence in a hospital, the Medical Council of Thailand has decided to suspend two doctors and issue a warning to a second.

The vice-president of the committee, Prof. Dr. Prasit Watanapa, stated in a press conference on Thursday evening that the resolution, which was approved by a majority vote, would need the public health minister’s approval before being implemented.
