Truck driver arrested after motorcyclist killed in seven-vehicle accident in Sungei Kadut

SINGAPORE: A truck driver was arrested after a motorcyclist was killed on Saturday (Dec 16) in an accident involving four lorries, two trucks and a motorcycle.

At about 12.05pm on Saturday, emergency services received reports of the accident at the junction of Woodlands Road and Mandai Estate in Sungei Kadut.

Firefighters found a person trapped in the driver’s seat of a lorry while the 28-year-old motorcyclist was found under another lorry, said the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).

Rescuers used hydraulic equipment to release both people. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by an SCDF paramedic.

Four others, including the person trapped in the driver’s seat of the lorry, were taken conscious to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital in Yishun. 

A 54-year-old truck driver was arrested for careless driving causing death, said the police, adding that investigations are ongoing.
