The nine sailors were taken to a fish pier in Khura Buri district by the military’s weather and southern security command, where they were eventually taken to a speed boat.

Five members of the crew were hurt in the explosion. One of them, identified as Pairat Pala, a 54- year- ancient Thai website engineer, sustained severe burns.

The sunken boat’s captain believed that the flames might have been caused by motor pieces exposed to fuel oil vapours during the refueling process.
