Some carriers have suspended airlines, leaving visitors stranded
According to flooded street access, Transportation Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit advised the people to prevent Chiang Rai’s major airport on Thursday night.
The minister claimed that the airport’s Airports of Thailand ( AOT ) had informed him that Mae Fah Luang Chiang Rai International Airport’s access road was flooded, preventing visitors and staff from entering.
According to Mr. Suriya,” I advise people to avoid going to Chiang Rai Airport until the scenario improves.”
While some airports visitors waited for their flights, some turned stranded. Thai Airways International, Lion Air, and Jetjet Air all announced on Thursday that they had suspended their planes from the airport.
The secretary directed AOT leader Kirati Kitmanawat to make an urgent visit to the airport to offer food, drinking water, and negotiate for their evacuations.
Mr. Suriya remarked that the airport and customer terminal were still intact by flooding, but he had instructed airport management to improve its flood response measures, including maintaining water pumps and dredging canals.
