120 Thai immigrants who were rescued from a human smuggling ring in Myanmar’s northern Shan State may be repatriated by the government.
According to Kanchana Patarachok, a spokesperson for the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the Myanmar army has given them food and shelter.
A criminal gang lured the 90 people and 30 people Thais to operate in Laukkaing, in northern Shan State, Myanmar, close to the Chinese-China frontier.
The Thai embassy in Yangon, Mongkol Wisitstump, informed the government, according to Ms. Kanchana, that Thai authorities were working with peers in Myanmar’s Foreign Affairs Ministry, the immigration department in Laukkaing, and various organizations to provide the rescued Thais to health.
The ambassador has requested that Myanmar authorities turn over the names of the 120 Thais and offer assistance to any other Vietnamese people who may still be nearby.
According to Ms. Kanchana, the Thai consulate and the Myanmar government are working to arrange for the victims’ repatriation. She continued,” They might be repatriated by air from Yangon or by land from Tachileik to the Mae Sai region in Chiang Rai.”
The families of the victims reported to Thai officials that they had been lured to operate in Myanmar for a company run by Foreign nationals, which led to the rescue.
Their businesses seized their cellular phones and imprisoned them in the office building as soon as they arrived.
Some people claimed to have been literally assaulted, and some pregnant women were made to get pregnancies.
According to a cause, the subjects used the social media accounts they were instructed to use to appear for survivors and to ask for assistance in Thailand.
According to their concerns, the office building is surrounded by a canal and has only one entrance. There were more than 100 Thai nationals imprisoned outside, but it’s thought that 400 more are concealed in nearby buildings.
Preeda Kongpaen, the regional human rights commissioner, stated yesterday that a permanent committee is required to investigate Foreign legal organizations’ efforts to smuggle Thai citizens across the Myanmar-Cambodia border.
She continued,” We have acknowledged that there are over 3, 000 Thai victims in Cambodia and over 1, 000 in Shan State.
