A large branch fell on a cable-supported gate the pair was walking on on on Thursday at Jungle Flight Chiangmai in&nbsp, Doi Saket city. Both fell from a 15-metre top, local authorities said.

Jing Chen, 44, was found dead on the ground, while Liu Yang, 46, sustained broken legs. He was taken to Doi Saket Hospital by rescuers.

Local reports claim that the tree’s bottom had fallen over as a result of new heavy rains, leading to its toppletion.

The district office has shut down the building so that a detailed investigation can be conducted to find out what caused the accident and make sure all equipment adheres to safety standards.

Forestry officials, however, have launched an investigation to determine if the interest was encroaching on jungle areas. They added that other provincial zipline monuments will also be checked out.
