Chanakarn Theeravechpolkul, the head of the Juvenile and Family Division of the Supreme Court, was appointed as the new head of the court on Monday.
Sorawit Limparangsri, Courts of Justice spokeswoman, said the interview will take effect on Oct 1, 2024, the first day of the future fiscal year.
Ms. Chanakarn is the fifth woman to hold the office of Supreme Court leader. She will remove Anocha Chevitsophon, the current leader of the Supreme Court, who took up the position last season. Her name did come to an end on September 30.
Ms. Chanakarn received her bachelor’s degree in law from Thammasat University and passed the Thai table examination.
She oversaw the Central Bankruptcy Court, Bangkok South Civil Court, and the Juvenile and Family Court.
She was afterwards appointed as Region 9’s Vice President and Region 9’s Deputy Chief Justice of the Bangkok South Civil Court, Deputy Chief Justice of the Court of Appeal for Specialized Circumstances, and Vice President of the Court of Appeal.
She served as the head of the Juvenile and Family Division of the Supreme Court prior to being elected as the new leader.
