According to minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit, the Ministry of Transportation may try to delay a proposal to increase tolls on the Don Muang Tollway and also lower the existing fees.

The original schedule required that the rates get increased this year from 115 to 130 ringgit per trip.

Mr. Suriya claimed that he had directed the Department of Highways to look into ways to lower costs by lowering the cost of operating the turnpike, which was given the official name as the Utraphimuk Expressway.

The 21-kilometer street connects Pathum Thani’s Lam Luk Ka area to the National Memorial in the Din Daeng city of Bangkok. Tolls are reviewed and adjusted every five times thanks to the running agreement Don Muang Tollway Plc has been granted through the agreement through 2034.

The firm announced on Thursday that it intended to increase toll charges by 5 to 15 baht per part. The fresh rates may start on December 22 this year and end on December 21 in 2029.

The Tolls for four-wheeled vehicles may increase from 35 to 40 ringgit for the Don Muang- National Memorial area and from 80 to 90 ringgit for the Din Daeng- Don Muang area. That may increase the cost of the entire course by 130 Baht.

The agreement, first granted in 1989, allows for fees to remain raised one more time, covering the interval from 2029 to 2034.
