Three seriously injured in Pattani shootout

A warrior guard was acting on information that a group of rebels were operating in Khlong Chang community in Khok Pho area at 4am, working with a 50-man specific work force.

The power located two to three alleged separatists with weapons hiding in the area.

The rebels opened fire on security personnel at around 7am after being encircled by a dense forest. Witnesses reported hearing several bombs during a shootout that broke out.

Three people of the army were hurt in the 15-minute fight. With debris embedded in his arms and legs, Sergeant Maj Thanasak Buaka of the Third Place Charity Defence Force suffered severe injuries to both of his feet. Following Lt Tawachai, whose title was not given, was thoroughly injured by gunshots. A charity from Nattaphol was struck by fragmentation and had trouble breathing.

Following the battle, the military established a 500-meter boundary and requested aircraft assistance in finding the shooters.

The militants have not yet been apprehended. The party may include called for help, according to officials.

The militants are suspected of carrying out earlier in July attacks and murders of military officers. The group’s officials in the Pattani and Songkhla border regions are thought to be among them.

The most recent tragedy comes just weeks after a roadside bomb went wrong on Monday night in Pattani’s Nong Chik area.
