Three security officials killed, one injured in Yala

In two assaults in this southern frontier province on Monday night, a defense charity, two border police officers, and a second seriously injured person were killed in Yala.

Around 12.40am, the first attack occurred on Highway 410 ( Yala-Bannang Sata ) in the Bannang Sata district.

When a 34-year-old defense charity Theerawut Phuttharat left his car and entered the shop, about 300 meters from his surveillance system in Ban Tabing Tingngee in tambon Taling Chan, attackers opened fire on him.

He was instantly killed, and his vehicle was engulfed in flames.

A street bomb went off in the Than To area as a truck carrying three border police officers passed through Ban Tha Si Nam at around 9:30 am. The explosion caused a wreckage for the car, which was blown off the road.

Sgt. Maj. Isaret Intarapet, Panuwat Wechapasan, and Monpitak Petnui, both from Poland, suffered severe injuries.

Eventually, Sgt. Maj. Isaret and Sgt. Monpitak succumbed to their injuries.
